GeoNiagara Young Professional Event Announced!

The CGS Young Professionals Network in partnership with the IAH Early Career Network are hosting a thought provoking panel discussion that highlights industry professionals at various career stages: sharing their opinions on best practices, working across teams, and doing good science. This event crafted by young professionals, for young professionals, is sure to spark discussion lasting well past the end of the event, and create a unique environment to network, foster new connections, and meet new colleagues! The panel and discussions will take place in the Trade Show hall ahead of the icebreaker and exhibitor reception.

Updates
The Discovery Webinar Series continued during the winter, and ECHN members were able to share their research with other groundwater groups. In January, students working with Drs. Jean-Michel Lemieux, John Molson and René Therrien at Laval University hosted a second webinar focused on cold regions and coastal hydrogeology. In March, students from Dr. Tom Al's lab group at the University of Ottawa presented their work on topics ranging from aquifer vulnerability to x-ray absorption spectroscopy. If you are interested in presenting in a future webinar, please send an email to the NEW ECHN committee (iahcnc.earlycareer@gmail.com). We are looking for future presenters!

Members of the ECHN will have the opportunity to express what they’d like to see from the network in the coming year. All participants who are registered as ECHN members by August 31st will be entered into a draw for a chance to win a $50 Mountain Equipment Co-op (MEC) gift card!
GeoNiagara - Events for Early Career Professionals
The GEOpardy Student Competition will be held on Tuesday, September 27 (Afternoon Coffee Break). All students registered for the GeoNiagara conference will be notified by email when the call for teams is ready; don’t miss your chance to participate! Several teams (4 students per team) will be selected for the quiz competition. Then, based on the popular quiz show, questions will challenge your geotechnical and hydrogeological skills. A cash prize, supported by Golder, will be awarded to the winning team!
